About Youturn
The individuals, families and communities we support are at the heart of everything we do at Youturn. We listen deeply – honouring every voice, story, culture and choice – through our core values of Integrity, Respect and Inclusion. We have a strong commitment to reflection and responsibility and are always curious and adapting through our Learning value. At Youturn, we believe in the importance of caring today for a better tomorrow, represented in our value of Stewardship.
Youturn is a community-based not-for-profit charity providing social, community, and health services across Australia. With more than 35 years of experience, we are a trusted provider supporting individuals and communities through life’s toughest moments, empowering people of all ages to live safe, connected, and meaningful lives. With compassion and equity at our core, we support people in the areas of housing, community and family support, mental health, and support for those bereaved or impacted by suicide.
Be the person a young person meets when it matters most.
At headspace, we support young people aged 12 to 25, recognising that mental health challenges look different at every stage of adolescence and early adulthood — and that timely, age‑appropriate care can change lives.
At headspace Gawler, your work won’t just fill appointment slots — it will change the trajectory of young lives.
headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health support to young people aged 12–25. We exist to make help easier to access, more youth‑friendly and genuinely supportive — not just clinically sound, but human.
Now, we’re looking for a Mental Health Clinician who wants to do more than “clinical work” — someone who wants to connect, advocate and make a lasting impact in the Gawler community.
We care about you — because you care about others
We know meaningful work requires genuine support. At Youturn, your wellbeing matters just as much as the young people you support.
Salary packaging up to $15,900 to maximise your take‑home pay
5 days paid wellness leave per year (pro‑rata)
12 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months
Annual leave loading
Professional supervision and annual professional development budget
Reimbursement for required checks
Employee referral bonuses up to $2,000
The opportunity
This role is part of our commitment to ensuring young people in the Gawler region have timely access to mental health support — without stigma, long waitlists or barriers.
As a Mental Health Clinician, you’ll be one of the first contact points for young people seeking help. You’ll engage, assess and support them — not just clinically, but relationally — working alongside families, carers and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
You will:
Engage young people in a youth‑friendly, developmentally appropriate way
Conduct comprehensive bio‑psycho‑social and risk assessments
Provide evidence‑based psychological interventions
Support young people experiencing distress, trauma, AOD concerns and complex life stressors
Coordinate care and referrals to internal and external services
Develop care plans that are strengths‑based, practical and meaningful
Contribute to individual and group‑based therapeutic programs
Participate in care reviews and collaborative decision‑making
Desired Skills and Experience
About you

Registration (or working towards) with the relevant professional board
Experience conducting mental health and suicide risk assessments
Strong understanding of youth mental health, AOD use and trauma‑informed care
Confidence delivering therapeutic interventions and treatment planning
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Strong stakeholder engagement and community collaboration skills
Commitment to early intervention, recovery‑oriented and strengths‑based practice
Desirable (but not essential):
Knowledge of local youth mental health services and networks
