We are looking for an engaging and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in Toowoomba. In this frontline role, you will support young people within a residential care setting who may have experienced trauma, instability, and significant life challenges.
What you’ll be doing:
Creating a safe, stable and supportive environment for young residents.
Building meaningful connections with young people through positive role modelling and respectful relationships.
Providing day-to-day support, including supervision, meal preparation, household duties and assistance with personal development and life skills.
Contributing to individual case plans and working collaboratively with your team to support the unique needs of each resident.
Ensuring accurate and timely documentation, including case notes and reporting.
Supporting young people’s access to education, health, and recreational activities.
Navigating complex behaviours with empathy, professionalism and calmness under pressure.
Desired Skills and Experience
Essential
Tertiary qualification or working towards tertiary qualifications in the human services field (Certificate IV level or higher).
Highly developed communication skills (listening, verbal and written), including the ability to establish rapport and maintain a positive relationship with clients and other service providers.
Other Requirements
Hold a current ‘C’ class open driver licence.
Must hold a Blue Card issued by the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General
Must hold, or be eligible to apply for, a Suitability Check issued by the Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.
This position will require work outside business hours and/or across a 24/7 roster, which may include day shifts, sleepover shifts, weekend shifts and public holidays to best support the individual program and client needs.
Desirable
Experience recording case notes within a client management system.
Demonstrated ability to provide culturally secure work practices when working with Aboriginal people and with people of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds.
