About Youturn
The individuals, families and communities we support are at the heart of everything we do at Youturn. We listen deeply – honouring every voice, story, culture and choice – through our core values of Integrity, Respect and Inclusion. We have a strong commitment to reflection and responsibility and are always curious and adapting through our Learning value. At Youturn, we believe in the importance of caring today for a better tomorrow, represented in our value of Stewardship.
Youturn is a community-based not-for-profit charity providing social, community, and health services across Australia. With more than 35 years of experience, we are a trusted provider supporting individuals and communities through life’s toughest moments, empowering people of all ages to live safe, connected, and meaningful lives. With compassion and equity at our core, we support people in the areas of housing, community and family support, mental health, and support for those bereaved or impacted by suicide.
Through our 24/7 Residential Accommodation Services, we provide not just shelter—but genuine connection, trauma-informed care, and pathways forward for vulnerable youth aged 15–25.
We’re on the lookout for empathetic, reliable and values-aligned Support Workers to join our dedicated team. You’ll walk alongside young people who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, or disconnection, helping them build independent living skills and reclaim their futures.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Support Worker, you’ll be the steady hand and supportive presence many of our young people need. You’ll provide a safe and respectful home-like environment, working collaboratively with colleagues and external supports to ensure every young person is heard, respected, and empowered.
Your day-to-day includes:
Assisting with new resident intake and helping them feel welcomed and safe
Supervising and supporting daily routines and household responsibilities
Facilitating life skills development (e.g., cooking, budgeting, personal care)
Ensuring health, hygiene, safety and emotional wellbeing needs are met
Supporting the delivery of individual case plans under a client-centred framework
Responding to crises with professionalism and calm
Maintaining accurate case notes and records in our client management system
Working closely with internal and external services to coordinate support
Supporting cultural, religious and individual needs with sensitivity and inclusion
