Community Development (Community Services & Development)
About Youturn
The individuals, families and communities we support are at the heart of everything we do at Youturn. We listen deeply – honouring every voice, story, culture and choice – through our core values of Integrity, Respect and Inclusion. We have a strong commitment to reflection and responsibility and are always curious and adapting through our Learning value. At Youturn, we believe in the importance of caring today for a better tomorrow, represented in our value of Stewardship.
Youturn is a community-based not-for-profit charity providing social, community, and health services across Australia. With more than 35 years of experience, we are a trusted provider supporting individuals and communities through life’s toughest moments, empowering people of all ages to live safe, connected, and meaningful lives. With compassion and equity at our core, we support people in the areas of housing, community and family support, mental health, and support for those bereaved or impacted by suicide.
The role that keeps everything (and everyone) moving.
Not every job changes lives directly.
This one supports the people who do.
At Youturn, our frontline teams are out there doing important, human work every day.
And behind them? Someone making sure everything actually functions.
That someone… could be you.
This role is for the person who notices things others don’t.
The broken chair before it becomes a problem.
The missing equipment before someone asks.
The issue that “someone should fix”… and you just do.
You bring order.
You sort things out.
You make life easier for everyone around you.
And you take quiet pride in knowing: “If I’m doing my job well, everything just works.”
What this job really is
You’re the glue across multiple sites.
The connector between:
teams and tools
people and systems
problems and solutions
Some days you’ll be:
organising a repair before it disrupts a service
setting up tech so a new staff member can hit the ground running
coordinating site needs so teams can focus on the people they support
Other days? You’ll just be the person who makes things happen when they need to.
What you’ll be doing (without the corporate spin)
Keeping things running (so others can do their jobs)
Supporting multiple sites to stay functional, safe and well organised
Jumping on issues early and following them through to resolution
Creating environments that actually work for people
Sorting out the practical stuff
Coordinating maintenance, repairs and day-to-day building needs
Working with landlords, tradies and service providers
Making sure things don’t sit unresolved
Tech & systems support (don’t worry — not super technical)
Helping organise equipment, access and basic IT needs
Tracking assets and keeping things where they should be
Making sure teams have what they need to get their work done
The details that make everything smoother
Ordering supplies before they run out
Keeping records accurate and up to date
Supporting scheduling and coordination behind the scenes
Being someone people rely on
Responding quickly
Solving problems without drama
Being approachable, practical and helpful
Let’s be honest for a second…
This role can be busy.
Things come at you from multiple directions.
Not everything will be perfectly planned.
But if you:
like variety
enjoy getting things sorted
and feel energised by helping others succeed
You’ll thrive here.
Why Youturn (and why this actually matters)
This isn’t just admin.
This isn’t just coordination.
This is the work that enables support services to function properly.
At Youturn:
what we do matters
the people we support matter
and the environments we create matter
Desired Skills and Experience
You’ll be part of something bigger, even if your role is behind the scenes.
We are:
People-centred – we put people and communities first
Collaborative – no one does this alone
Responsive – we act, not just talk
Purpose-driven – this work has meaning
Accountable – we follow through
What we offer (the practical side)
Competitive salary based on your experience
12% super + salary packaging up to $15,900
Additional $2,650 meal & entertainment packaging
Access to extra salary packaging benefits (where eligible)
5 days wellness leave each year (pro-rata)
12 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months
Annual leave loading
You’ll do well in this role if:
You’re naturally organised and stay on top of things
You take initiative instead of waiting to be told
You enjoy helping people and fixing problems
You can juggle multiple priorities without losing momentum
You’re comfortable working across different sites and teams
You’re confident using systems like Microsoft Office
Relevant experience in administration, operational support, facilities coordination, business
support or a similar role.
Relevant qualifications in administration, business support or a related field are desirable but
not essential.
Bonus points if you’ve worked across:
multiple locations
community services or not-for-profit environments
Final thought
If you’re looking for a role where:
your work is visible
your contribution matters
and your day goes fast because you’re actually doing things
This might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
